Today is Destiny’s last day of 2nd grade!!! It’s been a great year and we adore her teacher but I have to say, I am super excited to have my big girl back home with me for the whole summer!
The kiddos are so happy too. They have big plans to continue their new favorite activity, playing “Orphans” who needed food and shelter. See that poor little Orphan baby in the wagon? Poor thing! I welcomed them in to my home (after they washed their feet and hands, of course) and we shared a lovely meal. 🙂
Later, I found them reading in bed all snuggled up together. Moments like this make my heart swell!!!!
We had our first “From the garden” salad recently! A delicious and flavorful Steak salad with homemade dressing. Whenever we grill Steaks, I specifically marinate an extra one knowing this salad is in our future! YUMMY!
Grilled Steak Salad with Homemade Dressing
- FOR THE SALAD:
- 1 pound Leftover Grilled Sirloin Steak, Thinly Sliced
- 16 ounces, weight Bag Baby Spinach Leaves
- 1 head Romaine Lettuce, Washed, Dried And Torn
- 1 whole Tomato, Chopped
- 1 cup Green Onions Tops And Bottoms, Sliced
- 2 cups Cheese Shreds
- _____
- FOR THE DRESSING:
- ½ cups Olive Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Vinegar
- 1/2 cups Honey BBQ Sauce (or more to taste)
- 6 Tablespoons A1 Steak Sauce
- Salt And Pepper
To prepare dressing, simply whisk all dressing ingredients together until well-combined. Set aside until serving time.
Sear a previously grilled steak a bit, to bring to room temperature. (I thaw and marinade an extra steak, with this salad in mind, the nights we grill out.)
Chop veggies and toss salad ingredients together, add cheese and dressing on each individual serving.
AMAZING and simple, a great summer meal!
Have a great weekend! YAY! School’s out, it’s SUMMERTIME baby!

Looking at those pictures makes my heart swell too. So nice to have them home more during the summer! They are just precious.
Loving that salad too. I love a good steak salad and that dressing sounds absolutely divine!!
I don’t usually like steak sauce and that dressing still sounds great to me!
Oh my goodness, ME neither! (That’s not entirely true, I do love Heinz 57 sauce, but its worlds above Steak sauce, lol!) But the dressing really is fabulous! I want to hear your review if you make this. 🙂
OOPS~ I need to edit that comment. It was supposed to say I love HEINZ 57 sauce. {Gasp} What a sacrilege to call it A1!
OK, I just clicked like so I won’t forget.
YAY for Midwestern moms who love to cook finding each other on the world wide web. Thanks for your comment on the Tasty Kitchen. Had to come check out your blog. LOVE. P.S. – That preggo pic on your About Me page. SASSY much?!? I’m gonna have to find a client who will rock that look for my next maternity shoot.

Thank you, C! 🙂 Yup, we were goin’ for some Sass in that photo shoot to be sure. I had just had my 3rd baby in 3 years and couldn’t possibly manage another sweet, soft “normal” maternity session. I found something online called “Boudoir Maternity” and knew it was my answer! Not very heard of around here, but SO fun and a bit scandalous too! hee-hee 🙂 I am your newest fan, you even made my favorites bar! We midwestern gals have to stick together!!!! Thanks for stopping in! ~T
Oh my..I like the sound of this dressing!
and I bet this is something my hubby would eat! (wahoo!)
