Well, here they are. The photos from the first ever wedding I’ve shot alone. Remember, I was the coordinator and decorator for this wedding too, jobs I feel a bit more confident doing! I think I might have over-committed though, it was hard to run the show AND capture it too. Thankfully Eileen (My mom in law) had her camera available and did some shooting too while I was busy helping the bride, and both she and my mom cut and served cake and punch for me. (THANK YOU! Love u!)
Anyhow, the day went well. I had some lighting trouble, which comes from me not knowing how to shoot on manual. Remember I am still new to this world of SLR cameras! I WANT to learn to use my camera to it’s potential, I really do, but WHEN?! How can I squeeze one more thing into a day with already too few hours in it?
Needless to say, I just set my ISO and winged it. Ugh. Not a good idea. The day was a really really overcast, but really really BRIGHT. Does that make any sense? It was like, squinty bright, which means everything is too white to edit like I want. If only I had known to just go back to my normal, favorite, no flash setting, it might have helped. {SIGH} Why do I get myself into these predicaments?
Good news is, this is the first of 2 weddings this couple will have; the 2nd being an AMAZING, BIG one in Thailand. AND, they already had a super duper amazing photo session done there, so the pressure was off a bit. (which is why I agreed in the first place)
Moral of the story?
I’ll shoot your party, I’ll shoot your kids, I’ll shoot the occasional family or senior session, but I will NOT be shooting any weddings alone. 2nd shooter with Whitney, yes. Alone, no.
Without further adieu, here are some of my favorite photos of pre, during & post wedding…..
Back to editing I go. I have GOT to tone down the brightness of some of these….
Happy Monday!
