Well, here they are. The photos from the first ever wedding I’ve shot alone. Remember, I was the coordinator and decorator for this wedding too, jobs I feel a bit more confident doing! I think I might have over-committed though, it was hard to run the show AND capture it too. Thankfully Eileen (My mom in law) had her camera available and did some shooting too while I was busy helping the bride, and both she and my mom cut and served cake and punch for me. (THANK YOU! Love u!)
Anyhow, the day went well. I had some lighting trouble, which comes from me not knowing how to shoot on manual. Remember I am still new to this world of SLR cameras! I WANT to learn to use my camera to it’s potential, I really do, but WHEN?! How can I squeeze one more thing into a day with already too few hours in it?
Needless to say, I just set my ISO and winged it. Ugh. Not a good idea. The day was a really really overcast, but really really BRIGHT. Does that make any sense? It was like, squinty bright, which means everything is too white to edit like I want. If only I had known to just go back to my normal, favorite, no flash setting, it might have helped. {SIGH} Why do I get myself into these predicaments?
Good news is, this is the first of 2 weddings this couple will have; the 2nd being an AMAZING, BIG one in Thailand. AND, they already had a super duper amazing photo session done there, so the pressure was off a bit. (which is why I agreed in the first place)
Moral of the story?
I’ll shoot your party, I’ll shoot your kids, I’ll shoot the occasional family or senior session, but I will NOT be shooting any weddings alone. 2nd shooter with Whitney, yes. Alone, no.
Without further adieu, here are some of my favorite photos of pre, during & post wedding…..
Back to editing I go. I have GOT to tone down the brightness of some of these….
Happy Monday!

GORGEOUS!!! You did an amazing job!
WOW! I love so many of your ‘unusual’ shots! The feet…the rings in the box, etc. Thanks for sharing – a very special ceremony for sure. You did awesome!!!!
Wonderful job! I wish we had a photographer as creative as you when we got married!
I think you did an amazing job! My oldest son is newly engaged (proposed just 2 weeks ago!) with a wedding coming up next June. I hope they are lucky enough to find a photographer in their area who can do this kind of work. If it was up to me I would have you come here, but alas, I am only the groom’s mother… sigh… Destiny looked so beautiful in the photos-growing up fast into a gorgeous young lady. Have a wonderful day!
Your photos are so lovely! So creative and your attention to the beautiful details is amazing! You should be very proud. 🙂
Very very pretty……….you captured lots of intimate memories for them to treasure forever!

How lovely! It’s always fun to learn something new. You’ll get better and better every time you do another wedding! Photography might be in my future, too–but I can’t even think about that right now! Like you said, too few hours in the day.

WOW!! You did a great job!! I can’t believe this was your first wedding shoot–AND that you planned and decorated too. Amazing. So what kind of SLR are you rocking these days–and what kind of lens did you use?
Aww, hi blogging friend! I am so honored you came to see me. 🙂 I have a Canon Rebel xs with the lens it came with. Apparently lenses are as expensive as the camera itself, who knew?!
Wow lady! Those really turned out great! Well done!
Thanks Emily! 🙂 I was sad about the brightness, but live and learn, right?!
