Making Every Moment Count

This is post 2 for today, head back 1 post for some yummy Hummus Pizza!

Do you know the BEST time to talk to your kids about life, the Bible, manners, their future spouses, hopes and dreams…you know, the heart to heart stuff?

  In the car.

  Yup, the car.

It’s guaranteed time with your kids near-full attention! I mean really, where are they going to go? They are strapped in! You have a CAPTIVE audience!

Guess that means its time to put down your cell phone.

Guess that means no more starting a movie the second the van door slides closed.

Guess that means turning the radio off.

Talk to them about what they see outside their windows.  Pray for them on the trip to school.  Talk to them about their day when you pick them up.

Just talk to them.  Then listen.

Betcha you won’t be sorry………

Kids say the coolest things.

  1. Oh, you are so right…in fact, when my boys were small, we’d listen to the sound track from ‘Les Miserables’…they learned the lyrics to all the words, and when they were 14, 11 and 10, I took them to NYC to see the Broadway play…they were truly mesmerized, and still today as men (some 21 years later!), my middle son sings to his 10 month-old baby son the beautiful songs sung by Jean Valjean…here’s the You Tube video if you’d like to get some cold chills!

  2. Yes you are so right!
I spent many many car rides having wonderful talks with my kids when they were growing up.
Surprising how much they really get out of it and you too!
Also love to play fun “car” games as well!
We have learned many spelling and math lessons that way and much more!
Hubby and I also love to go for rides out in the country and just talk during the ride very calming and a great way to catch up with each other.
We have had some of our best talks with the kids and each other in the car :)))
    Love the post:)

I adore hearing from you, comment away! :)
