  1. Thank you Tonya (and Angela) for all of they posts. They have all been SOOO good. I have so much info going thru my head right now that I have to take some time to organize it all in my brain!:) But is it all good stuff to get organized in there.;) These post are definitely something that I am going to have to come back on and reread to pick out more info that I missed the last time.
Thanks you for following the Lords calling to write this. We ALL need to hear it whether we want to or not!
    ❤ to you sweet friend!

    • Oh my. I am saddened by what I read tonight. She says because she saved herself for marriage in courting and purity, that she “never learned about the importance of communication and cooperation. I never learned about the importance of discussing expectations. I never learned that relationships are based on give and take, that some times they suck and sometimes they rock, that they’re about hard work with the awesome payoff of emotional support. I never learned how to deal with disagreement or disappointment. None of this. Instead, what I got was “don’t have sex until your wedding night.”
This is an incomplete message. As a parent, I can tell my kids to wait for sex and choose not to date, but in the meantime, surely I can teach the communication and cooperation, discussion of expectations for married life, give and take and more.
Just because you are not dating, you can’t work on these things in your courtship relationship?
I waited. I courted. I am very happy with the way life turned out. I guess I think she is taking a VERY extreme opposite to how she was raised, and her rebellion from it actually has me stunned!
What were your thoughts as you read?

  3. I do not believe that mothers and fathers own their children’s bodies or minds– because children grow up, become adults, and must become autonomous. I do not believe in arranged marriages. I do not believe that men are superior to women, or that women should submit to men. Your parents, as far as I know, did not “choose” Dale for you to marry. What makes you think you should pick out your children’s spouses? As a parent, certainly we must protect our children. But we don’t own them, and they will surely understand this for themselves on day soon, whether or not we want to believe it’s true.

    • My parents gave me their stamp of approval, and that is what I was referring to when I said help them choose. We want to pray and come right along side them as they select their spouse. It is my heartfelt prayer that they will use wisdom and discernment and allow us to be a part of the process. 🙂

  4. I loved the Christy Miller Series as a teenager! I firmly believe that her books are one of the reasons I saved myself for marriage and desired a God-centered relationship. I would recommend these books to anyone!
