Teacher Appreciation Week is typically the first week of May, about a week and a half before school gets out. I think it’s to give those poor teachers SOMETHING to hang on to while they push to finish strong! Tee hee, God bless our educators!
Dale and I try to be extra thoughtful to the teachers at our kids’ school, because they are taking a major pay cut to be at a Christian School, teaching our children about their wonderful Father in Heaven. And not just during teachers appreciation week, all year long. You would be amazed what an encouraging card and $5 gift card can do to brighten a teachers day, or how about a slice of that homemade pie you made last night, or their favorite soda and snack. Simple things that mean so much.
I shop Zulily and Jane specifically for small gifts/tokens of appreciation for this week of school. I try to make sure they are fun, functionable, useable gifts, and not just room décor or apple themed. I think they get tired of that stuff after awhile!
Here is what we did last year:
Monday, Desk “Equipment”
“May he EQUIP you with all you need for doing his will….” Hebrews 13:21
Tuesday, Farm fresh, free range Eggs from the Ferguson Farm
“He is the giver of all good things….” James 1:17
Wednesday, Personalized Notebook
“Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet (notebook) of your heart.” Proverbs 7:2-3
Thursday, Groceries
“You crown the year with a bountiful harvest….” Psalm 69:11a
Friday, Personalized Bejeweled Whistle
“Make a joyful noise…” From Psalm 100
I hope this gets your creative juices flowing and you can think of some neat ideas for your teachers this year!
Other years we have made school colored t-shirt scarves, a ready to bake meal delivered to the last week of school, a homemade pie certificate, banana bread loaves, Cherry Limeades, and gift cards.
Blessings to all those teachers out there, hope you feel loved and appreciated! And not just on Teacher’s Appreciation week, either!
Hugs, T
So glad to see you! It has been ages & I have a lot to catch up on…motorhome living? Wow! A tad envious here – good for you!
