Happy Valentines Day! {And an Ode to My New Crockpot}

Ode To My New Crock Pot

007

You are red, which makes me happy

Writing poems makes me sappy.

Dale found you on the clearance shelf,

$10 on sale, a steal in itself!

When I was young, I’d have scoffed at you,

A CROCK POT for Valentines Day?

Hisssss!  Boo!

Now, that I am a Mommy and not so foolish,

I think a Crock Pot is quite cool-ish.

Romantic that my loved one thought of me,

Awesome he remembered I was missing thee.

Crocking is so much fun!

Loving you, Dale, for getting me one.

Our budget may not be extravagant this

Valentines Day,

That doesn’t matter, I’m here to say:

I love you in a very big way!

My lover, my soul mate, my very best friend,

Our love will be cookin’ to the very end.

I may not be a very good poet,

but I Love YOU & I want the world to know it!

————————————-

Happy Valentines Day, to my Daley-poo!

Thanks for remembering I wanted a new Crock Pot! It’s the little things that mean so much!!!

Yours always,

~T  xoxo

P.S.  Dale says I need to get on here and tell you that he is also taking me out to dinner, so you don’t think he doesn’t know how to handle this whole Valentines Day romance thing! 🙂  Ohhh, and guess what?!  He gave me a card as usual, but this time, he wrote a WHOLE PAGE in it.  Dale is a man of few written words, so this was a very special treat, and it made me BAWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

This is sweet baby Maggie Beth:

She turns one today!

Her parents asked me to photograph her 1st birthday party, a huge shin-dig with nearly 100 people! (so I was told, don’t have the official head count)

Her parents brought her over to my house the next day for a photo session, things started out great!

Then, the mean ol’ Rooster crowed and scared her silly!

Poor baby. (but what a CUTE cry face!)

We spent the better part of the next half hour trying to console the poor dear.  Thankfully we still got some shots.  You know those moments just make you sweat as a parent, but I kept reassuring them that this was totally the story of my life and not to worry!

4 little Fergusons Photography: Wedding Bells

Ok, so I KNOW I said I would not be shooting weddings anymore, because they are a lot of work and I don’t feel equipped to deal with brides “Dream Day Expectations”?!?!  Well, how could I say no to this PRECIOUS couple that goes to our church, who just so happens to be the brother of one of my dear, dear friends.  So, I said yes.  Because I love them and because the wedding was small.  I can deal with small, right?

Other than my camera breaking 15 minutes after I began to shoot, YES, I had a BALL!  My friend, Heather went and shot with me, thank the Lord because she covered my hiney while I ran across town to borrow a camera.  Shooting with a friend makes everything twice as fun.  🙂

Here are a FEW of the photos from the big day:

They didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, but we did talk them into this shot……  🙂

4 little Ferguson’s Photography: Family Sessions

My friend Heather is a photographer, so she didn’t really need my services, but the trick is, how do we photograph our own families?!?!  We can’t!  So she and I swapped favors and one day, when we are ready, she will photograph my family as well.  🙂  She took her card to do her own edits, but I couldn’t resist playing with a few of my favorites too.

This next session was with our new Music Minister and his precious family, they just moved here from Venice, Florida.  Poor cold souls!  Their sweet little one’s teeth were chattering by the time our session was done.  I am afraid my outside photo shoots are over for this year, at least until I have a brave family call for snow photos!  I do not have any equipment for indoor shooting, but one day would love to build a natural light studio so we can shoot rain or shine!

Being Thankful In the Midst of Difficulty

2011 will no doubt go down as the toughest in the history of our lives as a married couple.  Never have we been stretched so much, never have we spent more time in the refiners fire being molded, chiseled and changed.

I am reminded of the letter shared with me by my mentor in a particularly difficult moment, to be read as if written by my Heavenly Father to me:

My dear one, my refining fire was never intended to hurt you, only to help you. Refiners%20Fire

When the firing is complete I won’t leave you in the heat one second more than is necessary, but will RUN to you and deliver you into my loving arms. Watch what I did with the heat of the days past, compared to today’s cool weather. I’m showing you something.

Can I not remove you from the heat of the fire in a split instant… into the Oasis of my love?

oasis

I am pleased pleased pleased with you, my child. Don’t doubt for a minute my immense love for you. I’m covering and caring for your children on earth with the same love that I’m caring for your children here. You will never on this earth know what measures of my love I am bestowing on you and your family in these days. I’m only giving you a glimpse here and there. Don’t fear in these days, my dear one. You’re not passing through the fire alone. You may not feel my hand or see my loving face, but I’m here… right beside you… silently, quietly, patiently, holding your hand.

I love you,

Daddy

The rest of the post found Here.

Surviving a year as we have, has refocused our eyes back to Christ, not the American Dream.  The way we see things, the way we experience things, the way we set our goals for our families future…….

All different now.

Good.

For that I am truly thankful.

our house

I am thankful that we have been able to make our house payment each and every month, for an entire year of irregular pay, only by the grace of God.

036

I am thankful that every time I have written checks far larger than the amount in my account to pay the bills, the Lord has provided the funds just in time, promising to provide Manna for today. I am not to gather extra, just trust that it will come again tomorrow, just in time. (Exodus 16)

  039

I am thankful for my mailbox angels who have left amazing blessings in all forms, and the way the Lord used them and their timing to show us HIS faithfulness to meet all our needs.

033

I am thankful for this year of famine, our “reset button”, even though it has been hard, because I am different inside, I can feel it.  Never has the Lord been more real to me.

Jeremiah 17:8 “He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

045

I am thankful for these precious little lives!  There is not a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for allowing me the job of raising these children, and allowing them here on Earth with me.

319

I am thankful for my husband and the tenderness he shows me daily, as the Lord uses this difficult year to soften him, and make him the man He has called him to be.

037

I am thankful for our home, the fire that warms it, the laughter, tears and squeals of joy that bounce across our walls.

091

I am thankful for family supper around the dinner table, and the comfort it brings me to sit as a family and discuss the day together.

040

I am thankful that my Abba Father loves me and calls me by name. (Isaiah 43:1-2)

042

That He loves me too much to keep me the way I am.

b favs

That He tenderly wipes my tears and draws me into His lap when I am too weary to stand.

018

I am thankful that trials by fire bring beauty from ashes…… (Isaiah 61:1-3)

I am thankful for this blog and the creative outlet it is for me.

I am thankful for you, my friends.

Enjoy tomorrow with your families, and be thankful!

Hugs, T

4 little Fergusons Photography: Twin Edition

This is a twin edition in two ways: Twin as in dual photo sessions to share with you & twin as in Twins!

I had the privilege of photographing the precious twin boys of some friends of ours from Sunday school.  We have been in class together for 9 years now and have built great relationships with each and every couple in there!  I am so thankful for the people the Lord has placed in our lives!

Without further adieu, here are my favorites from their session.

This next family is also from our church, I did not know them well before the session, but I feel like I do now! They had the clever idea of coming in their camo shirts in honor of their love of hunting.  Here are just a few of my favorites from their session……I had to copy and paste from Facebook as I just cleaned them off my computer.  (hoping to avoid another crash by keeping my photo numbers down!)

I am so very thankful that the Lord is blessing our family with these photo jobs, I had 2 more sessions this weekend that still await editing!  I hope to get a few more sessions in before its too cold, because once that happens, I am out of a job!

I don’t know enough about my camera to deal with yellow-orange inside lights and bad lighting.  Dale promised me he’d look into building me a frame of some sort to try to reflect the natural light that comes in our bedroom window in hopes of creating a faux studio of sorts.  We shall see!  I am still feeling a bit overwhelmed and stunned that people are calling me to take their photos!  No pressure, right?!?!?!??!  🙂

I am so so thankful to be able to “play” at this and still suppliment our income during this rough patch.

I was recently privileged to take a family session for some friends of ours from church.  My “just for fun photography” has turned into a nice little endeavor for me, and a total answer to prayer during this tight time in our lives.  This session will take provide the funds for us to get new tires for the Tahoe.  Not a fun way to spend the money, but a necessary evil before winter comes.  I praise God for His continual provision!
