The Story of Paxton

I am madly in love with this little man:

And there is not a day that goes by that I don’t scoop him up in my arms, bring him up to my cheek and just breath a prayer of thanksgiving for his life here on earth with us.  He is a gift straight from my Heavenly Father.

As with all our successful pregnancies, Paxton was a surprise.  I took a pregnancy test based on a gut feeling, and it immediately showed negative.  Ok, good, I was hoping for a bit more time to decide if we wanted a 4th.  After 2 babies back to back (Tylan & Avery) I had asked the Lord for a 2 year break.  I had started consulting Him about these things, as obviously Birth Control should be called Birth UNcontrol at our house. The 4 we have here on earth were all surprises, and the 4 I tried to plan, are all in Heaven!

I had to quickly set the negative test down to go deal with crying 1-year-old Avery, got busy and totally forgetting all about it.  When I came back much later, I swooped it up to throw it away, glad none of the kids had found a new “play thing”, Gross!  Just as I am an inch from the trash can, I glance down to see 2 very distinct lines and….

Where did that second line come from??? It sure wasn’t there before!!!!  Woah, guess that’s a big YES after all! Good thing I hadn’t already thrown the test away!!!!!

God sure has a sense of humor……

Remember my “2 year break” request?

Guess who was due 2 weeks after Avery turned 2?

Baby #4.

Dale said next time you should tell the Lord you want a 2 year break between PREGNANCIES, not a 2 year break between children! lol  🙂  After being pregnant so many times in a row, 8 in 8 years at this point, you just kinda run out of fun ways to tell people you’re pregnant.  This go around, we decided to announce it to the world via facebook like this:

“Apparently, the world is in need of another Ferguson.”

People flipped out!  “What?! Does this mean what I think it does?”   🙂

Why yes, yes it does.

143  It wasn’t long after this that the complications began;  like a week of big time bleeding.  Thinking I had miscarried yet again, we went in for an emotional sono…immediately they find our little peanut.  Praise God, healthy and thriving!!  I am curious if Paxton was a twin, but this side of Heaven, we just won’t know.  (I wonder the same about Tylan, I had 2 bags of water with his pregnancy!)

By the 2 month mark,  I was contracting every day.  It seems each and every one of my pregnancies  was to be a complicated faith-walk the entire way through. Obviously this 4th and final little Ferguson was to be no exception!

By 14 weeks I was on light bed rest due to more contractions with severe cramping that felt like a miscarriage in process.  Thankfully that was not the case.

Soon after this, it was time for the exciting sono…….boy or girl? Something fun to look forward to no matter how many times you’ve experience it!

amniotic band_3babyface_3

”It’s a boy!” the sono tech told us.

Then, she got quiet.

She kept going back to this one area of my placenta.  I don’t know if you can recall what it feels like lying there, tummy exposed, bladder full, heart pounding with anticipation, smiling and hoping all is well, watching your little one on the sono screen….asking “Does everything look ok?”  Waiting for that reassurance.

None came.

Instead she handed us a slip and told us we needed to contact our doctor for another diagnostic sono.  Suddenly, our happy sunshiney day had dark clouds rolling in:  Fear.  Worry.  Anxiety.

  amniotic band_1

See that spot that looks like a hole?  That was the area of concern.  We were sent home to wait the month it takes to get into a Fetal specialist for a level 3 sono.  Can  you imagine?  A MONTH of not knowing what was going on inside?!

Miracle of miracles, God moved as only He can, and we got in to the specialist 7 days later.  Just like the last time, the sono tech can tell you nothing, so again we waited for the phone call, just 2 days this time. (2 LOOOONG days)108

We were diagnosed with a Complete Circumvallate Placenta. This condition can result in low birth weight, preterm labor (this explains all the contractions I’d been having!!!!), preterm emergency delivery and intrauterine growth restriction…aka baby not getting the nutrients or oxygen needed to grow and thrive.

Another thing that occurs is a white band forms around the perimeter of the placenta, causing further blockage of minerals and oxygen as well as preventing the toxins to be removed from the placenta as the baby goes to the bathroom.

If that wasn’t bad enough:  Pregnant women who experience circumvallate placenta are at a very high risk to deliver a premature baby or have a miscarriage. The “hole” we saw was the curled placenta, which means it is not properly attached.  Often circumvallate placentas continue to curve and curl throughout most of the pregnancy, creating a chance that the placenta will detach and the baby will need to be delivered immediately (like within minutes) by Caesarean section. If the placenta detaches before 25 weeks of gestation, there is a significant chance of miscarriage.

As I mentioned before, we had lost 4 babies at this point, so this was a HUGE point of fear for me already.  I began pleading with God for His hand to protect our little Paxton and keep him safely attached in the womb.  The Lord gave me this verse through a dear friend, which I personalized and CLUNG to the whole remainder of the pregnancy:

152Psalms 112:7  “(She) does not fear bad news, nor live in dread of what will happen. For (she) has settled in (her) mind, that Jehovah will take care of (Paxton).”

Oh wow, this was JUST what I needed to hear!

This is already longer than I had intended, so I am going to fast forward and sum things up a bit.  Basically, we were without a doctor until 32 weeks pregnant.  No one wanted to take a patient with a CV placenta and allow vaginal delivery, I was considered too high risk to deliver at the Birthing Center of my choice, so we waited, doctorless.   Do you know how awful that felt?  How scary it is to be contracting and wondering, what happens if this kicks into full labor? Do we just show up in ER praying a Doctor we can tolerate is on call?  So we prayed and waited and prayed some more.

With CV placenta, 32 weeks is a monumental turning point in the pregnancy.  It is the determining gestational age for whether or not the compromised placenta can handle the increased demands for food and oxygen from baby or not.   There were 2 scenarios:

 1) Do a Level 3 sono and see his growth had stopped and/or his oxygen supply was compromised and go in for an early C-section and live up in NICU with a premie for a while.

Or 2) Do a Level 3 sono, and find out he is growing just fine. I am then released to the doctor/midwife of my choice with a free and clear bill of health.

You better believe we spent those 32 weeks PLEADING with our Heavenly Father to feed our child since my body was not able. To give him oxygen so there would be no problems later.

126Mostly, I felt betrayed by my own body, which was supposed to be the safest place on earth for my litte one, yet it was the reason he was in such danger.

I spent a total of 6 1/2 months on the recliner in my living room, cramping, contracting, crying at times, praying and trying to be Mommy to a 6, 2 and 1-year-old.  I relied heavily on Dale, family and friends for the day-to-day tasks.  Even back to school shopping was done via cell phone from my living room, as my mom walked up and down the aisles describing items to me.

During this time, prayers were going up constantly from family and friends and church prayer chains.  We were so blessed to find out an elderly lady from Dale’s aunts church, after hearing of our situation, committed to get up at 5 am every morning to pray for Paxton and I for 2 hours.  She paxdoesn’t even KNOW us, but felt led to intercede on our behalf.  I had tears in my eyes and goose bumps all over when I found this out.

FYI: I want to be JUST like her when I grow up.  Wow.

So our 32 week appointment day arrives and with it the big “Make it or break it” appointment….the one that determines whether I could have the natural birth of my choice, or if they were going to need to take him early by C-section and put him in NICU.

Hearts pounding, we enter the sono room, pleading with the Lord for all to be well  And you know what, 30 minutes later, we had our answer:

Paxton was doing just great!!!!!!!!

In fact, MORE than just great.  He weighed in at 4 pounds 5 ounces already!  The average size for 32 weeks gestation….3 pounds 3 ounces!

 Praise the LORD!

Not only was God feeding him for me, he was feeding him WELL!  Look at those fat cheeks:Paxtonschubbycheeks

004We were released from the fetal specialist to our midwife with their blessings and no substantial fears of further complications from this condition.  Praise Jesus!

As I approached the end of a 9 month-long miracle, I breathed  a sigh of relief; all the fears, prayers, hours and tears from months of bed rest were coming to a close.  Only God Himself knows the extent of His covering over Paxton this pregnancy.  His power was made perfect in my body’s weakness. Hallelujah!

So when they let you off of 6 1/2 months of bed rest, designed to keep your baby in, you naturally think your baby is coming out as soon as you are up and about again.

Not mine.

He was cozy in there and he wasn’t budging.  In fact, he made me wait until the morning AFTER his due date.  Stinker!

At 4 am, August 17th, I woke up to a POP-POP noise.  That was weird, I thought, did Pax just kick my tailbone?  Nope. I had just heard my own water breaking.  Holy cow. Craziest sound/feeling EVER!

It was show time, FINALLY!  I always have evening babies, 2 of my 4 born at exactly 7:11 pm, so I figured we had a LOOONG day and evening ahead of us.

But by 9:32 am, after only 2 hours of being at the Birthing center, I got to meet my little (BIG) man.  Apparently, the look on my face when they said he was crowning was priceless…..Like popped my eyes open, dropped my mouth open in shock, mid-contraction.  I seriously never expected it to go that fast, envisioning spending the afternoon in labor yet!

And just like that, 16 minutes of pushing, and he was here, safely in my arms!

Paxton Clay Ferguson, my miracle, fed by the hand of God for 9 long months. Not only did God feed him, but He fed him WELL, like super charged God-food. 🙂

This kiddo weighed in at 10 pounds, 3 ounces, 22 inches long, and although he was much more blue-grey in color than my others, seemed to be doing fine. Praise be to God!

This 4th and final birth, was the most laid back, hands off experience I have ever experienced. And soaking in the tub during labor? AMAZING! Totally takes the edge off contractions and helps you to relax. If you get the chance to birth at a Birthing Center with a midwife, I highly recommend it! It is a beautiful, peaceful, natural process!!!

After everyone was all settled in and cleaned up, they did an examination of the placenta.  It was found to be 95% covered around the perimeter by a white cord, as is common with CV placenta.  To have an over 10 pound baby off a compromised placenta is nothing short of a miracle………

……..A precious gift sent from Heaven above.  Praise be to God for His provision and His hand on Paxton, caring for him in the womb when my body could not.

Guess what?! Tomorrow is Paxton’s 1st birthday!

How is it that the first year takes us from helpless newborn to walking, jabbering, little mini-person?

Can’t we stretch the 1st year out over 2 years or something? Pul-eeeeeeeeeeease?

{Sniff sniff}

CVP moms:  Besides tons of prayers and petitions to my Heavenly Father, I also was on several homeopathics.  They were Hyland’s brand, and one of the was to help with oxygen levels for the baby.  The other was a magnesium one to help slow down the contractions.  I could TOTALLY tell when they kicked in and wore off.  If you have CVP and are comfortable with the use of a natural, homeopathic remedy, despite what your doctor may have to say about natural things, this was very helpful to us.

Ferrum Phos. 30X & Magnesium Phosphate

Hyland’s Ferrum Phos 30x — 500 Tablets
This product can help the lungs to distribute oxygen throughout the body. It helps carry the oxygen in the circulatory system.

Hyland’s Mag. Phos 30x — 500 Tablets
Hyland’s Magnesium Phosphate is the homeopathic version of the magnesium they give in the hospital to stop labor.

I took about 10 of each of these 3 times a day.

I give all glory to God for this miracle, and these homeopathics are one of the ways He allowed us to have the healthy baby we did.  I believe that with my whole heart.

A Tank Party for My “Tank”

Ever since Paxton was a baby, we’ve called him “Tank”.  011  Maybe its because he was a huge kid at birth…

168  163

Or maybe it was because as he got older, and bulldozed his way through our home, the nickname just fit.

“Why hello there Tank!”

“Aww, Tank! Don’t cry!”

Naturally, as we approached Paxton’s first birthday party, it was only right that we go with the Tank theme:

A big thanks to Uncle Mike’s girlfriend, Mary, for making us this DARLING Tank cake!!!!! 044

Check out these cool Green Apple Army Gummy Men I found at our local market.  What are the odds of finding gummy army men, and just in time for our party!?!?!  I just smiled and said “Thanks, Lord!”  It TOTALLY made my day!  🙂

They were the really soft kind of gummy, and tasty too!

Paxton doesn’t actually turn 1 until Wednesday, (phew, I have a bit longer to call him my BABY) but due to some family matters, we moved his party up a whole weekend.

Here are the photos from his fun day:

“Look Momma, I think it’s a bug!”

“Got it…”

“Uh, Momma?  I got it, but I don’t like it.”

Cake time!  Paxton spots it his coming….

“Dis!” he says.

You can barely tell it, but in this photo he is pursing his lips and blowing the candle in these little teeny puffs. Clever boy!  087*Also not pictured: big brother Tylan, walking up to it and matter of factly blowing it out for him!!!!!  Nice.

Dig in baby, this is the first/last time you’re getting sugar for a long time…Enjoy it!

“Here Mom, this thing came off….”

Still going strong on the cake……till Momma cuts him off!

Time to open gifts!

Read that “Time for Mommy to open gifts, while trying to keep a squirmy, sugared-up, almost 1-year-old on her lap……”

Uncle Dan had arrived at the party in his super fun, 1964 Impala, so after the party, he let the kids have a ride around the property.

Pax sure thought he was cool stuff getting to stand in the front seat while it was parked….

“What do you mean I can’t drive until I am 18!?”

“Can I just pretend, like this?”

“Ok, thanks, Mom.”

Aunt Viv, here from Oregon, brought presents for ALL the kids.  They thought that was a SUPER great idea!  She brought them each a darling new outfit!!!

078My last little Ferguson is a few days away from turning 1!

How is that possible?!?!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Avery!

Today is a special day!

n762190229_4175882_1385Today is Avery’s Birthday!  And mine too.  She’s the best Birthday present I have ever received!

She was born 08-01-08 and I was born

Neat, huh?!

She turns 3 today, and this Momma turns 3-0. {Oh boy!}

My dearest Avery, no one would ever guess you weighed a whopping 10 pounds 3 1/2 oz at birth, (Or that your daddy made the nurses weigh you on 2 different scales because he thought they had to be wrong!), or that you would be our biggest baby ever.

Avery 11 hours old                                              Avery 1 day old

You’re such a teeny little thing now!!!!

And boy, do you have spunk! You always have had that onrey twinkle in your eye. I like to tease you that it’s from your Daddy.

You look just like his side of the family you know, right down to the baby blue almond shape eyes.

Your happy grin brightens any room.

You look like an angel when you sleep.

Sometimes when you’re awake too.

166136_180111815346562_100000432343062_509133_7731410_nSometimes, not.

“Look, Momma. I push him. He cry.”

Your cry can pierce any ear drum, as it has from the get-go.

Your love of reading started at an early age.

You are so creative in your play.

You aspire to be a wife, already praying for your future husband at times. 020021

And you want to be a mommy, too…….

You’re going to be great!031

You’re always eager to be our big helper!

You melt my heart whenever you reach up and slip your teeny hand in mine. “Can I hold you hand, Momma?”  064-3

Oh precious girl, how the years have passed us by.  057-2

How I wish I could stop time and just really hold you and give you the one on one moments you deserve.

It’s a good thing a Mother’s love doesn’t divide, it multiplies, because you joined our family when Tylan was 17 months old.n762190229_4666440_1214n762190229_4666441_1530

And, 2 weeks after you turned 2, your baby brother, Paxton came along.

“I’m da baby too, Momma……”

I may not always get to hold you in my arms as much as you ask me to, and that makes me cry.

I may not always stop and listen to your whole story because of the demands of the other children.

I may not get to rock you as long as you’d like me to each night before bed.

Sometimes, I can’t play Hide and Seek right when you want to.

But you know what?

I love you so much……

My little Peanut, my blessing from the Lord.

I promise to stop and hold you just a moment longer each night.

I promise to give you the time and attention you need.

I promise to never make you feel like I am too busy with the baby to give you what you seek.043

You are SPECIAL!  And you are my favorite Birthday Gift of all!201

Little Avery, you make my heart smile and I love you to the moon and back.

Happy 3rd Birthday, my sweet little one!

All my love and kisses too,

Your Momma      xoxo

Turning 30

Well, this is the start of the last weekend of my 20’s.  Yup, Monday I turn the Big 3-0!

Dale turned 30 back in April, and he says 30 doesn’t make you old;  4 kids, 2 car payments and a mortgage make you old!  WELL SAID!!!!!  On the bright side, we paid off the Tahoe this year, and Dale’s car is a mere $600 away from being paid off too, PTL!  Woo-hoo, I feel younger already.  🙂

So back in June, my best friend and her hubby invited us out to dinner in Wichita, to a FABULOUS European Bistro called Yia Yia’s.  We were super excited for a “real” date night, as opposed to our usual couch-snack-movie date that has become our norm.  I thought it a bit weird that Kasey asked me to grab my camera, but whatever, I love taking photos so I brought it along without question!  005

Right away the guys had us in stitches, teasing about how they had planned their outfits to match etc.

Ready to hit the town!

When we got to Yia Yia’s, we were led to this back room.  The dining room was pretty full, so I assumed we were being taken to overflow.  When they opened the door….. “SURPRISE!”

A room full of our friends!  Dale turned to me with this smug grin, since he had guessed what was going on.  You can imagine HIS surprise when they announced the party was for him too! 🙂  They had split the difference and had a party in the middle of both our birthdays.  How fun!!!!

Kasey remembered that (before things got tight) we had planned to throw a huge Luau out at our place, in celebration of both our 3oth birthday’s, so she did a Tiki-Hawaiian theme.  Perfect!!!!

The food was delicious, so of course, I got too busy eating and forgot to photograph the main course.  Typical.

Dale had this amazing roast chicken.  I had a killer salmon with homemade crab filled ravioli’s and roasted asparagus. Mmmm!

Thanks to the Master minds behind this great party!  We are so blessed with friends like you!!!!

A big thanks to Johnny and Tian, too, for helping Kasey pull it off in such a big way!!!  (Their cute photo was taken in RAW format and is now stuck on a memory card, so they are not pictured, sorry guys!!!!)

After dinner was through, a few of us decided to go bowling.  I quickly announced I had not been bowling since I was a 5th grader, but that deterred no one.  Little did they know what was in store for them……

You know how some things are like riding a bike, it just comes back to you?

Bowling is NOT one of those things.

I pretty much stunk it up the whole time, eventually going to a Granny-style bowl, just to get the darn ball in the right direction.  This was decided for everyone’s safety, after my pink ball, with too large of holes, went flying south instead of north!  LOL 🙂

Good things my friends love me despite my aversion to bowling.033

Monty=Mr. Rogers                 Kasey=Kaseylicious

Johnny=Rambo                         Tian=Shikera

Dale=Captain Tootypants   (boy does he ever live up to THAT name!)
Me=Princess Sparkle

Above: The guys being guys. Johnny digging for treasure?

Below:  Tian’s FABULOUS “I’m Not Mommy Tonight” Date Night shoes. I want!

I shouldn’t even post this next pic and forever lock into history, my shameful score, but here it is:

Capt. Tootypants won, followed by Kaseylicious, Rambo, Mr. Rogers and Shikera.  P is for Princess.  Yup, I bowled a 41 first game and a 65 the second time around.  So, do I get the prize for Most Improved Player?!?!  LOL 🙂

Next we moved on to the arcade, thank God because my arms were about to fall off!

I may not be a bowler, but I cleaned house on Deal Or No Deal, winning 100 tickets, thank you very much!

We pooled our tickets to take home something fun for all of our kiddos, 9 of them between us.

This made all the Mommy’s ready to head home and kiss their babies.  Besides, it was past midnight, we had an hour drive home and kids don’t get the “Sleep In” memo.  But where were the guys??????

At the nearest Shoot ‘em up game.

Go figure!

We finally dragged them away, kicking, screaming and throwing a fit….ok, not really.

Thanks to Kasey & Monty and Johnny & Tian for a GREAT birthday bash!

  We had a ball……

Love, Dale and Tonya

A Birthday Bash

There is a particular week in July that is EXTRA busy at our house: last week!

My future sis-in-law has a birthday on the 12th, my mother-in-law on the 14th, chadandlaurenandachilliesmy mom on the 16th and Destiny on the 17th.

Lauren, my future sis-in-law, lives in Florida, so we can’t celebrate with her.  001

Grandma and Nana are MORE than happy to forgo celebrating their birthday’s in honor of Destiny, so we usually just get together for hers.  180

Everyone seems just fine with that arrangement!  🙂

So, my baby is 8 now!!!!!  How is that possible?!

Seems like this was only yesterday:

And now?  A lovely little lady to be sure.

“Take my picture too, Mommy! I’m FAAAAANCY!”

Sure my almost 3-year-old, why not?!

Party Time!

Happy 8th Birthday, Destiny Joy!  You light up my life with your gorgeous grin, sweet nature and tender heart.  I LOVE YOU!

xoxo  Mommy

P.S.  Destiny wanted a rainbow cake this year. I am not a cake decorater, so I always manage to get myself in trouble with these requests.  I got online and found a Rainbow recipe, but it was for rainbow CUPCAKES so there was not enough of each color to do stripes since I switched it to cake pans.

Sooo, I had to improvise and do a marbled version.  Check out the batter:

End result:

Cut cake:

Each piece had different combo of colors and swirls.

Pretty cool, right?!  It’s no rainbow striped cupcake, but it worked, and we have more birthdays to try that sorta stuff.  🙂

Party Pics

Ty’s birthday has come and gone, but I am just finally downloading these to share with you.

We celebrated Ty’s birthday at school last Friday, he took Owl cupcakes to share with his friends. His teacher invited us to join him for the morning.  Avery was SO proud to be a part of “big kid school”!  And Paxton? Well, he was just plain sleepy but did great anyhow!  🙂

Then on Saturday, we had the family over to dinner.  We made homemade Stromboli:  Sausage & Mushroom, Sausage & Pepperoni, or Vegetarian, with a delicious Caprese Salad (I need that recipe, Gena!) and fresh veggies.  For dessert we served the remainder of the owl cupcakes.

Check out our Owl Happy Birthday signs using paper plates and scratch paper in the pics below.  Yup, pulled those outta my whazoo just moments before the first guests arrived.  The old Tonya would’ve planned out and made those DAYS ago, and done a much nicer job!!!!!!  Not this new Tonya….nope, apparently she is more of a fly by the seat of her pants kinda girl when it comes to this stuff.  Either way, the kids thought they were super fun to make.  There is a daddy owl named Happy, a momma owl named Birthday & a little owl named Tylan. What a hoot!  (hardy-har-har)

I adore having so many family members near-by to celebrate with! What a blessing!

Happy Birthday, Tylan!

4 years ago today, my little family: Dale, 3-year-old Destiny, a very pregnant me and our 2 inside dogs, were living with my mom while we added on an addition to our home.

It actually wasn’t as bad as you would think. Yes, we still speak to my mother, and we all still love each other too! 🙂  We actually lived there for nearly 4 months, until our home was move-in ready.   Have you ever tried to bring home a newborn to someone else’s house?  It was way harder than we expected!!  There were some tears, but we worked it out, right down to the formal dining room table turned changing table! 🙂  And it was a huge bonus to have Nana around to help!

4 years ago today, was an icy-snowy day.  I remember waking up so disappointed that my Valentine’s Day due date had come and gone.  (remember every day feels like a week at this point in your pregnancy!) After sticking close to home all week, waiting for this kiddo to show up, Dale had to drive to the border on business. (which is probably why I went into labor!)  So, when my water broke and my contractions were 5 minutes apart, it was my mom that had to drive me to the hospital, 45 minutes away.  As we started on our way, her Jeep was overheating, so we had to turn around and go get my Tahoe before continuing.

Now, I love my mom, but she is a bit of a crazy driver on dry roads, let alone slick roads.  And she is not used to my big Tahoe… better believe I prayed the ENTIRE way.  🙂  (Love you momma, you did good!)

I was thankful to have my mom there with me those first few hours at the hospital, while we waited for Dale to arrive.  (Which he safely did, a few hours later, after flying across the states!!) No speeding tickets, but that meant no police escort either.  Thankfully, he made it in plenty of time to see his baby boy come into the world.

My best friend, who was at Destiny’s birth, called the nurses station to check on our progress RIGHT as Tylan was born, and got to hear his first cry in the background.  I love when God works out things like that!!!!  Ty

Tylan Zachary means “God remembered”.  I know He never forgot me, but it sure felt like it for a few tough years of trying to stay pregnant. Tylan was our first miracle baby, conceived against all medical odds, 2 weeks after our 4th miscarriage, when all seemed lost. I cannot even begin to tell you the excitement we felt, when we got to hold our 9 1/2 pound, bouncy baby boy at 7:11 tonight.  (the EXACT time that his big sis was born!)  We were crying and praising God for the miracle He had worked in our lives, and the privilege of a new life here on earth, with us!

So, today, according to the Birthday tradition in our house, Tylan is “Prince for the Day” and will not have to do ANY of his usual chores.  This also means he gets to pick the supper of his choice tonight….he picked Pancakes, which I will serve with Huevos Rancheros and his FAVORITE, cheesy tortilla roll ups!  We will open presents when Daddy gets home from work.  (But it’s SO hard to wait!)

Happy Birthday, Tylan! You are a gift straight from our Heavenly Father, and today I praise Him for YOU!

Love you bunches,

After staying home for 7 days, while one after another of my sweet family (Ty, Avery then Dale) got hit with the dreaded flu bug last week, you can imagine my delight, when we were invited over for a Tea Party at “Gramma Esther’s” house.  She always plans the NEATEST things for the kids!  It worked out perfect, it was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so Destiny had no school.

Avery promptly announced she wanted to be Snow White for this Tea Party, so the others followed suit and I ended up being the chauffeur to 2 Snow Whites, (1 a Queen and 1 a Princess), a Fire Fighter King and a Teddy Bear Baby.

The kids enjoyed the playroom, and then we had a nice soup lunch, followed by…tea!

My kids adore tea, and tea parties with COOKIES make things even more exciting…..

Esther had this DARLING tea set, look:

Thanks for a GREAT time, Grandma Esther!!!!

Tuesday was Destiny’s day to celebrate her half birthday, which as you recall is a BIG deal in Elementary School!  And, I wanted to be the one to deliver her treats.  However, I had no desire to try to walk into Central, wielding 2 Tupperware’s of cupcakes, an infant, 2 toddlers, a camera and a diaper bag, so Dale stopped home between appointments to let me go alone.  Thanks babe!  🙂  Destiny was in bed when I decorated the cupcakes, so she was excited to see them….and me! (better enjoy being “cool” while I can)

I sat and visited with her class as they ate, a teacher called Destiny up so the whole lunch room could sing to her, and then it was time for me to head back home to relieve daddy and put the little ones to nap.

Isn’t it funny what those little breaks can do for a Mommy’s morale?

The Big 3-0

30.  Wow, it sounds so old grown up, so adult-like!  To be no longer “in your 20’s” is a bit hard to swallow!  But I still have 6 months to go until I have to worry about it.  My best friend, Kasey however, has reached the BIG 3-0 as of New Year’s at 12!

She decided to quietly turn 30, no party, no extras, just a fun shopping day or dinner would’ve been fine with her.  We talked about it a few times, but with the busyness of the holidays, we didn’t make any for sure plans.

Little did she know, that Pam (her mom) and I were emailing back and forth like crazy, preparing to throw her a surprise party the 30th of December. As the big day approached and she and I talked on the phone regularly, it was AGONY trying to filter the things getting ready to come out of my mouth, lest I be the one to RUIN the surprise!

And talk about panic, did you know, it took me until almost noon, the day of the party, to convince her to let me take her out for her birthday on a Thursday night. (usually her hubby’s late night @ work)  The next battle was convincing her (without arising suspicion) to get all dressed up, instead of our usual home-clothes & minimal makeup Girls Nights, heading into town after the guy’s get home from work, to catch a late movie.

Kasey’s hubby, Monty, might have had it worst of all. Poor guy called me and said that he “threw himself under the bus” and went into work early that day, much to his wife’s dismay, so he could get off early to stay with their kids during the party. Of course, she didn’t know at the time it would all be to her benefit!!!!  He was in the DOG HOUSE!!!!!! He even went so far as to complain when he got home, that she was going out and leaving him with the kids.  What a champ!

It all worked out, hallelujah, and she was super surprised and happy with her beautiful black and white Birthday party.  Afterwards, we invited both our momma’s to go see a movie with us.  They fell asleep if that tells you how the movie was!  It was fun to have them along regardless.

After that?  Well it was midnight, where do you think we went?

Out for coffee?

Out to dance the night away?

Yeah right! One of us has been pregnant or nursing the past 7 years of our friendship, so we don’t even talk about those kind of Girls Nights Out! 🙂

Nope, Kasey and I headed to Wal-Mart to do her grocery shopping for the weekend.  Where else would we go? I mean really, Girls Night Out with us only goes so far before “Mommy” kicks back in.

Midnight grocery trips to Wal-Mart with a friend are fun AND FUNction, right!?  It was entertaining to say the least!  There are quite the interesting people out shopping that time of the night/morning.

Here are some photos of the big night……

All dressed up and ready to head out…..Kasey has NO idea what’s in store! 🙂

Why are they taking us back here?                                  SURPRISE!
