Community Helper Week & A Chickee Hut

We have been busy builders around here, first helping Destiny with her Chickee Hut, then Tylan with his church building.  It was Community Helper Week in Kindergarten, and Friday was ”What I Want To Be When I Grow Up” day.  He wanted to be an Insurance Agent just like Daddy.  {awwww!}

Now, Destiny wants to tell you about her Indian Report and Chickee Hut:

Hi, it’s Destiny.  I haven’t gotten to do a blog post FOREVER.  Here is the last one, Pax was just a baby back then!!!!

Mom said I can do one like that again soon, but for today, I want to tell you about this Chickee Hut daddy, mommy and I made for school.

Daddy did the posts for the house, and I helped him with the roof.  Mommy helped me the most with the accessories, like the fire and meat, and the people’s clothes.  Her favorite part was the palm trees with pretzel rod trunks, don’t tell her I said this, but she said she was a genius.  It made me giggle.

My favorite part is the alligator sneaking up on the dad Indian, and the baby turtle hiding in the bushes!

Here are some photos of my Chickee Hut:

The Seminole Indians are from Florida.  Their house is on stilts because it will help keep the alligators, snakes, turtles and other swamp animals out.  They don’t have walls because its warm climate, but when it rained, they rolled down tarps to keep the rain out.

The wives did the harvesting and cooking. They used to hang their babies in swings from the rafters to keep them happy while they cook supper.  They harvested beans, corn and squash.  The men did fishing, and hunting animals like alligators, snakes, deer, and rabbits.

Story telling is VERY important to these Indians.

Bye! Destiny

The Heart of Worship

Destiny has a heart for worship.  She loves to express herself to the Lord in song and praise.  Dale and I pray over our kids each night, that the Lord would reveal their God-given gifts and talents at an early age, so that we can nurture those and help them to grow to be used for the Glory of God!  I will be very curious to see if this is her gifting!

Hi, this is Destiny!  I am excited to be here and this is my 2nd blog post. Mom let me write one this summer, it was SUPER fun!  You can see it here.

I wrote 3 1/2 songs in my quiet time, I want to share them with you today. They don’t have tunes yet, but they will one day.  I want to learn piano or violin or flute, but mom says, piano will be easiest for me to sing with.  I am thinking about it.

Here are my songs:

Come To Me Lord

by Destiny, age 8

Come to me Lord,

Come let me worship you,

I will praise you, I will praise you all my days.

I love you Lord, I love you every day of my life.

And every day I wish I could see you.

Heaven sounds amazing, I wish I lived there every day.

I love you Lord, you are the King of my life.

Dancing in the Moonlight

by Destiny, age 8

Ooooooh, one night the shepherds were watching their sheep,

And an angel came and said the King is born!

And they went dancing in the moonlight.

They followed the star to find the King, and when they found Him,

They went dancing in the moonlight.

Dancing in the moonlight.

Then the wise men found the King, and they went

Dancing in the moonlight.

And when they found him, they went dancing in the moonlight.

Dancing in the moonlight for the King of Kings.

I Will Worship You

by Destiny, age 8

I will worship you, Lord.

I will worship you all of my days.

One day, the whole world will bow down to you.

One day you will take me up there with you.

And I will worship you.

The last song will be called “The Miracle”, but I am not done yet.

I get nervous when I sing, but one day I want to sing a solo at church.

That’s it. Hope you all had a great Christmas!

Love, Destiny

P.S.  Mommy says to head to Post 2 today for some Soup that we all LOVED!

Destiny’s Post

Hi! This is Destiny, I just turned 8 years old.  Since I am getting so grown up, I begged my mom to let me do a blog {post} this summer.  She said yes, but no taking her camera outside, well, except for the back porch.  Here are the photos I took.  I am still learning!  My favorite photo is the rose, mommy’s is the flower in the vase.  Daddy just smiled when he saw my food photos, and said I was just like my mom.

Have a nice summer! Love, Destiny

The World As Seen By Destiny

Note from mom:

I am so proud of Destiny! She did a great job on this post and worked really hard!!  I love that she picked up the fork with her left hand while snapping the shot with her right in the photo of the dinner plate above. (just like she has seen me do)  Oh, and I know Pax looks horrible in those photos, he was not feeling well at all and had spiked a fever, so he was getting a vinegar/ginger bath to bring down the fever and start the detox process.  Poor kiddo! He’s fine now.

I also thought the Chicken doo doo was a, um….nice touch?  Very fitting after the chicken photo I suppose.

This last photo was snapped by Destiny, right before we left on our anniversary date this May.  We like to tease Nana, that Destiny takes better photos then she does.  Nana agrees, admitting to getting too much ceiling most times! 🙂
