Oh How the Years Go By….

When I saw Ty and Dale out mowing together last night, I had a flashback…..

Little Tylan used to mow with his Daddy for HOURS on end.  He’d just sit there and doze off, wake up and sit some more.  Just content to be with his Hero.

Oh how the years go by…..

Tub Time Traditions

There is just something so darn cute about babies in the bathtub!

066069                          At around the 8 month mark, we take a bath time photo of our children in the sink.  I am not sure how this tradition got started, but it seems once I decided to decorate my red & black bathroom with black & white bath time pictures of baby Destiny, taken by my cousin many years ago, it was deemed necessary to continue,  as other little Fergusons turned 8 months old.

Forgive me, but I am far too lazy to take these out of their frames and go scan them……

Here they are as you see them in the bathroom…..I need to get Paxton’s photos ordered and into the frames already!

You have no idea how many years I walked into this bathroom, and dreamed of the day when I’d have 4 babies to photograph and fill this frame.     044

Funny the things that can make you sing praises to your Heavenly Father, isn’t it?

I’m A Gentleman!

Tylan LOVES to be told he’s a gentleman. He often races to the door to hold it first for “us girls” just so he can be told again what a gentleman he is.

The other day, I heard a sweet, proud little voice say: “Hey Mommy?”

When I turned, this is what I saw:

Melt.  My.  Heart.

Now if I could just teach him to pee indoors, we’d be set on the “Gentleman” thing!

049  That cute lil’ white hiney deserves a close-up:

His daddy taught him to do that, you know.

I can hear him now:  “That’s my boy!!”

HA HA HA!  🙂

No worries, only a garden hose caught at the perfect time.

  Let’s keep it G-rated, people!!!!

P.S.  Did you notice my new 4 little Ferguson header pictures, located at the top of this page?  My babies are growing up! A big thanks to my friend, Lisa from Toddlers & Scholars, for making it for me.

Tylan Vs. The Sidewalk, Plus Taco Pie & Grape Salad

Tylan battled it out with the Sidewalk today……

Let’s see, swollen eye, swollen nose, elbow scraped, nose and forehead missing skin, too.

Yup, I’m pretty sure the Sidewalk won.

Poor, poor Ty.

002 Avery wanted to play Hide and Seek this morning.  I love that she giggles the whole time she is hiding.

“Wherrrrrrrrrrre’s Avery?”

Just follow the giggles and you’ll find her.

009Or, just look for her sweet lil’ feet sticking out.

I love when they go through the stage where they think you can’t see them just because their face is covered!

On to the foodie part of this post:

These 2 recipes are SUPER easy and SUPER DUPER delicious!

Taco Pie was my favorite meal my momma made when I was a kid.  It tastes best in your Pampered Chef Round baker (the one with edges) however, a large pie pan will do in a pinch.  Just be sure to reheat in your toaster oven, cause it gets soggy in the microwave.

Taco Pie

  • 1 can Crescent Rolls (8 Ounce Can)
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 package Taco Seasoning, 1 Ounce Packet
  • 3 cups Doritos, Crushed, Or More To Taste, Divided Use
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1-½ cup Shredded Mexican Cheese

Preheat oven to 375F.

Set out crescent rolls for easier spreading.

Brown hamburger on the stove with taco seasoning. Cook over medium high heat until the meat is browned. Then drain any grease.

Spread crescent rolls in a pie plate (or Deep Dish Baker from Pampered Chef) to form a crust, covering the bottom of the dish and going up the sides with the dough. Put a layer of crushed Doritos as the bottom layer, adding them until the crescent dough is nicely covered. Add all of the meat, then layer your sour cream and Mexican cheese. Top with more crushed Doritos. Bake for 20 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is melted. Let set for 5 minutes before cutting.

Serves 8.  Go make this!!! It’s SOOOOO good!!!!!!!

Grape Salad

Dale’s mom makes this recipe at her restaurant a lot, and boy do we LOVE it.  It’s a great summer time dish.

  • 2 pounds Red Grapes
  • 2 pounds Green Grapes
  • 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, softened
  • ¾ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar more or less per Your Taste (be Warned This Can Get Really Sweet!)
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans

Wash and pull grapes off stems. Cream the cream cheese with the vanilla and stir into grapes.

Scrape into a 9×13 dish. In a small bowl, stir brown sugar and pecans, spread on top of grapes and refrigerate until serving time.

As you can see from the photo, only red grapes were used this time, but it still tasted great.  Green makes it very pretty though, so do a mixture if possible.

It’s so good it could be dessert!

Or snack.

Or breakfast.    (Shh! Don’t tell!)

Happy Cooking!

Check out those luscious lashes!

  Speaking of sleep…..

Tylan, now 4, is starting to exhibit signs of being done with afternoon naps.  (No, please not yet!!!!) So, I let him read by flashlight and “rest” for an hour or two instead…..

The good news?  Half the time this occurs.  🙂

I am such a better mom after quiet time.  I think after the kiddies outgrow sleeping during the afternoon, we’ll still divide up to separate rooms for reading time. We are all more refreshed and excited to play together again after a few hours of quiet!!!!!

Speaking of quiet, I better go get some stuff done while they are all down!

Tylan’s 4 year old Photo Session

Again, going with the SAVE theme this month, I decided to forgo Tylan’s 4 year old photo session with Whitney, who I LOVE to use, and take them myself.  She has done every session of Ty’s since he was a newborn.  This is a sad sacrifice for me, but I know God will honor my obedience.

Here are the photos I was able to get of him.  Gotta say, some ages are harder than others, and this just might be one of Ty’s harder sessions.  I got LOTS of fakey “Cheese” smiles or he wanted to tilt his head to his shoulder every time the camera came up to my face.

Oh well, gotta love it!  🙂

Party Pics

Ty’s birthday has come and gone, but I am just finally downloading these to share with you.

We celebrated Ty’s birthday at school last Friday, he took Owl cupcakes to share with his friends. His teacher invited us to join him for the morning.  Avery was SO proud to be a part of “big kid school”!  And Paxton? Well, he was just plain sleepy but did great anyhow!  🙂

Then on Saturday, we had the family over to dinner.  We made homemade Stromboli:  Sausage & Mushroom, Sausage & Pepperoni, or Vegetarian, with a delicious Caprese Salad (I need that recipe, Gena!) and fresh veggies.  For dessert we served the remainder of the owl cupcakes.

Check out our Owl Happy Birthday signs using paper plates and scratch paper in the pics below.  Yup, pulled those outta my whazoo just moments before the first guests arrived.  The old Tonya would’ve planned out and made those DAYS ago, and done a much nicer job!!!!!!  Not this new Tonya….nope, apparently she is more of a fly by the seat of her pants kinda girl when it comes to this stuff.  Either way, the kids thought they were super fun to make.  There is a daddy owl named Happy, a momma owl named Birthday & a little owl named Tylan. What a hoot!  (hardy-har-har)

I adore having so many family members near-by to celebrate with! What a blessing!

Happy Birthday, Tylan!

4 years ago today, my little family: Dale, 3-year-old Destiny, a very pregnant me and our 2 inside dogs, were living with my mom while we added on an addition to our home.

It actually wasn’t as bad as you would think. Yes, we still speak to my mother, and we all still love each other too! 🙂  We actually lived there for nearly 4 months, until our home was move-in ready.   Have you ever tried to bring home a newborn to someone else’s house?  It was way harder than we expected!!  There were some tears, but we worked it out, right down to the formal dining room table turned changing table! 🙂  And it was a huge bonus to have Nana around to help!

4 years ago today, was an icy-snowy day.  I remember waking up so disappointed that my Valentine’s Day due date had come and gone.  (remember every day feels like a week at this point in your pregnancy!) After sticking close to home all week, waiting for this kiddo to show up, Dale had to drive to the border on business. (which is probably why I went into labor!)  So, when my water broke and my contractions were 5 minutes apart, it was my mom that had to drive me to the hospital, 45 minutes away.  As we started on our way, her Jeep was overheating, so we had to turn around and go get my Tahoe before continuing.

Now, I love my mom, but she is a bit of a crazy driver on dry roads, let alone slick roads.  And she is not used to my big Tahoe…..you better believe I prayed the ENTIRE way.  🙂  (Love you momma, you did good!)

I was thankful to have my mom there with me those first few hours at the hospital, while we waited for Dale to arrive.  (Which he safely did, a few hours later, after flying across the states!!) No speeding tickets, but that meant no police escort either.  Thankfully, he made it in plenty of time to see his baby boy come into the world.

My best friend, who was at Destiny’s birth, called the nurses station to check on our progress RIGHT as Tylan was born, and got to hear his first cry in the background.  I love when God works out things like that!!!!  Ty

Tylan Zachary means “God remembered”.  I know He never forgot me, but it sure felt like it for a few tough years of trying to stay pregnant. Tylan was our first miracle baby, conceived against all medical odds, 2 weeks after our 4th miscarriage, when all seemed lost. I cannot even begin to tell you the excitement we felt, when we got to hold our 9 1/2 pound, bouncy baby boy at 7:11 tonight.  (the EXACT time that his big sis was born!)  We were crying and praising God for the miracle He had worked in our lives, and the privilege of a new life here on earth, with us!

So, today, according to the Birthday tradition in our house, Tylan is “Prince for the Day” and will not have to do ANY of his usual chores.  This also means he gets to pick the supper of his choice tonight….he picked Pancakes, which I will serve with Huevos Rancheros and his FAVORITE, cheesy tortilla roll ups!  We will open presents when Daddy gets home from work.  (But it’s SO hard to wait!)

Happy Birthday, Tylan! You are a gift straight from our Heavenly Father, and today I praise Him for YOU!

Love you bunches,

“For this child I prayed, and the Lord hath given me that which I asked of him.”

Happy Born Again Birthday Tylan!

Ty has asked Jesus in his heart!

Today is a special day in the Ferguson Household!  This morning ,Tylan accepted Jesus into his heart. What a blessing and a gift, to be able to be present for such a glorious moment in my child’s life!

I was on the phone with a friend, whose adult daughter had accepted Christ, and was saying “Oh Praise the Lord!” to her.  After I got off the phone, Tylan wondered, why I was so excited, and why was I praising the Lord?  I briefly told him that this woman was now a child of God, and got to go to Heaven to live with Jesus when she died.  We talked a bit more about Heaven and hell, and I could tell he was interested, but I didn’t want it to be my idea, so I let it go.   A few minutes later, with tears in his eyes, lips quivering, he said: “….I want Jesus in my heart so I can go to Heaven.” Oh, how my heart leapt for joy!  He repeated a prayer after me, and with eyes sparkling, exclaimed: “Jesus is in my heart now!!!!!”

Ty's Born Again Birthday party!

I explained to him, that Jesus and the Angels were having a Born Again Birthday party for him in Heaven, RIGHT NOW, as God writes his name in the Book of Life. He thought that was super cool! We called daddy to tell him the good news, then proceeded to call the grandparents!  Calling Great Grandma Beckler, especially blessed my heart, she got very tearful after Tylan told her Jesus was in his heart. I could hear her saying, as she handed the phone to Great Grandpa, “Here, you take the phone, it’s Tylan. I have to go cry now.” I love it!  What a great way to start the day!

~T 🙂

P.S.  Tylan came up to me hours later: “I can take that man’s pill and drink his juice at church now!”  What?? It took awhile, but I finally figured out he was referring to communion, when the usher brings around juice and little crackers. We’ve always told him its only for people who have Jesus in their hearts!
